Men And flags

This showed up on DRUDGE today:

That's Obama standing in front of some American flags so large they are generally only seen this size flying at automobile dealers.

It reminded me of a previous photo of a man standing in front of some very large flags:

It's not the man or the flag I'm stressing here, it's the fact that propaganda has not changed a bit.

Loose On Our streets

A 340-pound woman, Lonneshia Shafaye Appling, punched, spit on and pepper-sprayed Piggly Wiggly grocery store employees while attempting to steal beer, bacon, cheese and chicken wings.

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/bizarre/shoplifter-went-on-piggly-wiggly-rampage-789304

People like this are out there, folks.  This particular one obviously has little or no consideration for anything but her appetites.

If people like this are willing to pepper-spray the employees of an ordinary grocery store repeatedly for a few chicken wings and a beer, then it's  time to consider what you need to do to protect your  family members when they go out grocery shopping, or go to work.

This is a result of the "entitlement mentality" that has been fostered by our federal government. It's an attitude that allows someone to believe that if they want something, they can just go take it... from anybody, anywhere.

And if you  - or anybody - gets in their way, it's punch, spit and pepper spray time.

Perhaps the next  chicken wing thief will be carrying a gun instead of pepper spray.

Now, won't that be exciting?

Miners In Space...

... Sort of.

Speaking of private capitol investing in space:

Vehicles  like the SpaceX( and far more advanced ones) that are being funded by the large corporations will soon be more commonplace  than, say, the B-1 bomber. Why? Money. Profits. Power. Control.

As soon as these boys can figure how to get to the asteroid belt and start mining operations, you can bet the profits will soar.

Here's one approach:

http://gizmodo.com/5904727/how-the-space-miners-will-bring-trillions-of-dollars-to-earth-live-coverage

Here's some more they don't talk about publicly... yet:

Get to the asteroid belt, find a huge chunk of unobtainium or whatever is worth $$$$$$$$, redirect it to a suitable earth orbit, then mine the hell out of it.

That's step one. Step two:

They'll  take over a large chunk of desert somewhere (Australia, Gobi, Sahara, Mojave - wherever a slight error in trajectory won't matter too much) in which to deorbit sizable chunks of valuable stuff, making recovery very easy. Of course, they will need to be chunks large enough not to burn up during de-orbiting.

At that point, they will not want ANY sort of government interference with their operations, so making NASA just another Washington blob of bureaucrats is the real ticket to unlimited and unfettered operations.

Once these guys get into space for real, there's not a government on the planet that will want to hinder them because kickbacks, payoffs, etc., will make today's bureaucrats look like the cheap crooks they are.

Future family conversation:

Child: "Mommy, what's that bright light in the sky coming coming towards us?"

Mommy: That's one of Gaia's tears, sweetheart. Isn't it beautiful?"

Daddy: It's another huge chunk of unobtainium headed for the Mojave. Let's hope it actually hits where they're aiming for this time. We don' t need another disaster like Bakersfield. "

Maybe - if we're lucky - world governments will have enough cajones to make them use the moon instead of earth as a handy place to orbit huge masses of metal.

But don't bet your paycheck on it.

Writing On The Wall

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — The privately bankrolled Dragon capsule made a historic arrival at the International Space Station on Friday, triumphantly captured by astronauts wielding a giant robot arm.

The spacecraft took 1,000 pounds of food and supplies to the ISS and will bring back some of its trash and garbage in the reusable return capsule.

If I were a NASA bureaucrat, I'd sure be looking for a way to hobble those Dragon guys with a boatload of regulations, rules and requirements insuring that NASA would keep it's finger in the pie. After all - NASA has just about  written itself out of the manned space business by shutting down the Shuttle fleet and canceling its expensive - but dated - replacement.

One thing about the Dragon capsule and it's launch system... It wasn't built by the lowest bidder, so we probably won't see a repeat of the Apollo 1 disaster when future Dragons take astronauts into space.

Lights Out

Detroit, whose 139 square miles contain 60 percent fewer residents than in 1950, will try to nudge them into a smaller living space by eliminating almost half its streetlights.
As it is, 40 percent of the 88,000 streetlights are broken and the city, whose finances are to be overseen by an appointed board, can’t afford to fix them. Mayor Dave Bing’s plan would create an authority to borrow $160 million to upgrade and reduce the number of streetlights to 46,000. Maintenance would be contracted out, saving the city $10 million a year.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-24/half-of-detroit-s-streetlights-may-go-out-as-city-shrinks.html

35,200 (40%) broken streetlights. The local barbarians must be using them for target practice.

Like it or not, we are seeing what happens to a city when the productive portion of the population flees.

Detroit, like many other cities in America, is doomed. It's just one of the first to show what the end will look like.

The Friendly Skies

"Look! It's a bird, it's a plane!"

"No, It's  a superarmed drone!"

Yessir, in all our futures... Armed drones that may actually send something similiar to a Hellfire missile into your neighbor's - or maybe your - home.

Don' t be too surprised if you  look out your window one of these days and  see something like the thing pictured above peering into your window. After all, you do read this blog, which is penned by an ex-military member,  thusly  -according to Homeland Security - making me a potential threat.

Would such a drone, hovering over your house, looking into your window, somehow be violating your private airspace? Or do we have such a thing as our own airspace?

Where does public airspace start? At ground level, or perhaps some distance above that?

It's Tinkle Time!

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee will rename a street after former-Speaker Nancy Pelosi today in Golden Gate Park.
"Middle Drive East" which connects Martin Luthjer King Jr. Drive and John F Kennedy Drive in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park will now be renamed in honor of Pelosi and her 25 years of service in Congress.
San Francisco is the second city to name a street after Pelosi. Baltimore, her home town, renamed a street in her honor in January 2007 shortly after she was elected Speaker of the House.

http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/san-francisco-rename-street-after-pelosi/554591

Wowzers...

How many people will take the opportunity to visit Pelosi Drive and donate a golden stream onto the pavement? Well, it is in Golden Gate Park....

San Fransiscians should  also designate this particular street for the walking of their dogs, creating an endless supply of raw material for Nancy to use in Congress.

Or maybe put up toll booths at either end, and call it the Pelosi Troll Road.

Perhaps tear up all the pavement and proclaim "Pelosi Lane... Where you can find all the dirt!"

Don't forget: No right turns allowed - left turns only.

I could go on for hours.

It's Enough To MakeYou Cry

Big news flash:

"NEW YORK — After years of detention and a bold escape to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, blind Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng arrived in the United States, a bittersweet moment in a harrowing journey that had touched off a diplomatic crisis and poses continued challenges for U.S.-Chinese relations."

The crying part is not for this wannabe lawyer that is now here after leaving all of his family back in China.

The crying part is for the idiots that run our government, the bleeding hearts that can't seem to grok the fact that this guy Chen - who still has all his family  under  the Chinese Communist  thumb -  will be anything but a  well-placed spy for the Chinese.

Go ahead, you dumbass liberal crybabies, pay for his degree at NYU, make sure he has a job somewhere in a sensitive part of our government or industry, and then wait as Chinese agents pump him for information... all the while threatening to kill his family members back in the old homeland.

GAH.

Don't think for an instant that the Chinese haven't thought this through, and how Chen will be a valuable asset for them in America. They never would have let him go otherwise.

Double GAH.

More And More....

... Democrats are looking for ways to dodge a presidential visit:

You may have noticed that Obama is not making much of an effort to support Democratic candidates. Seems his personal support has become the kiss of death.

Maybe that's because a kiss from Obama may now mean something entirely different than what we thought... thanks to Newsweek.

Or maybe it's because Obama is not a Democrat, nor is anyone in his administration. They are all something else. And whatever that "something else" is, it's certainly not a Democrat, or a Republican, or an Independent, or an American.

Whatever that "something else" is, it has become obvious that their goal is to destroy the Republic and put the nation under the control of unelected foreign bureaucrats.

Just watch what our self-proclaimed Progressive Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is doing at the UN and the Hague. While Obama is distracting us with trivia, Clinton is busy burdening the United States and it's citizens with foreign laws and rule.

The Lesser Of Two Evils

From the Daily Mail:

"Just how unpopular is President Obama in some parts of the country? Enough that a man in a Texas prison received four out of 10 votes in West Virginia's Democratic presidential primary.

Inmate Keith Judd, 53, is serving 17 years for extortion at the Beaumont Federal Correctional Institution. He was sentenced in 1999 for making threats against the University of New Mexico and is due to be released on June 24 next year.

With 93 per cent of precincts reporting, Obama was receiving just under 60 per cent of the vote to Judd's 40 per cent."

Not too surprising. When offered a choice of selecting between two criminals, the results can often be surprising.

Unintended - But Expected - Consequences

Bush the Lesser was really great with all that pre-emptive stuff as an excuse to go kill people and break things in somebody else's country.

Well, guess what?

The Russians now think that this pre-emptive excuse for a military strike anywhere they feel like will also work for them:

Russia's most senior military officer said Thursday that Moscow would strike and destroy NATO missile defense sites in Eastern Europe before they come online if the U. S. pushes ahead with deployment.

"A decision to use destructive force pre-emptively will be taken if the situation worsens," Russian Chief of General Staff Nikolai Makarov said at an international missile defense conference in Moscow attended by senior U. S. and NATO officials.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/may/3/russia-threatens-strike-nato-missile-defense-sites/

This could get serious if Obama suddenly grew a pair and decided to face them down.
