Patronage To The European Union?

The European Union. Even as it disintegrates before our eyes,
it is attempting to reach across  to us and direct American lives.
Is Google aiding and abetting this effort?

The following just popped up on my blogger page from Google:

European Union laws require you to give European Union visitors information about cookies used on your blog. In many cases, these laws also require you to obtain consent.

As a courtesy, we have added a notice on your blog to explain Google's use of certain Blogger and Google cookies, including use of Google Analytics and AdSense cookies.

You are responsible for confirming this notice actually works for your blog, and that it displays. If you employ other cookies, for example by adding third party features, this notice may not work for you. Learn more about this notice and your responsibilities.

European Union laws? When did I become obligated to obey European Union laws?

Additionally, I have seen nothing on my blog page explaining anything, and...

Just who made me "responsible" to make sure my blog is European Union compliant? Who gave them that authority?

If Google has decided it's going to require American citizens to answer to European Union laws, it may be time to ask:

What European Union law are we being required by Google to observe and obey?
Is there a treaty between the United states and the EU that allows this coercion to occur?
Why should any American Blogger be concerned about the EU and its invasive laws?
Is Blogger just kowtowing to the EU at the expense of its American users?
What justification is being offered for this invasion of our sovereignty?

Just asking.

If European Union "visitors" have a need for me to explain my blog to them, they can just stay away.
